KitKat Overtakes Gingerbread - Android Distribution Numbers

As the case is every month, Google released the latest Andoird distribution numbers, which basically tells us how many devices are running the different versions of Android.

Here is a note you should read first...
Note: Because this data is gathered from the new Google Play Store app, which supports Android 2.2 and above, devices running older versions are not included. However, in August, 2013, versions older than Android 2.2 accounted for about 1% of devices that checked in to Google servers (not those that actually visited Google Play Store

Anyway, as we can see in the chart, the most used version of Android is Jelly Bean, after that we have Gingerbread at 14.9%, then KK at 13.6%. Then ICS and Froyo at 12.3% and 0.8% respectively.

However, one thing to note here, that there are rarely any devices being manufactured that are running Froyo, so its pretty much impossible for the figures to ever change into its favor. On the other hand people are updating their devices from JB to KK, and still buying devices running GG. Lets wait till next month to see if KK made the jump.
