E3 is happening as I write this post, new game are being blessed upon us. However, they're far from being released, which is a sad thing if you were waiting for them desperately, whether it be Assassin's Creed Unity, or Far Cry 4. Still there are several Open World games which you can play right now, we've ranked them in a top 5 List.
Just Cause 2 is an overwhelming game if we look at the size of its world, which is open from the get go. The game is played in third person view, in a virtual Africa. There are helicopter, bikes, boats and cars available to drive. Along with Unique vehicles. The map is mostly filled with forests and rivers, there are a few cities and towns scattered here and there. This is one of the most fun open world games of all time, this isn't meant to be taken seriously.
4. Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3 is set on an exotic location. Its played in a First person view, there is wildlife that can be hunted and enemies that can be killed. You can craft new items and roam from an island to another. The game is a must play if you enjoyed the previous games, or if you're waiting for the next one and haven't played this before.
3. Batman: Arkham City
In Batman, you're in control. You choose how you want to save the day. Whether you cant to silently search the premises for clues or you want to beat every crock you meet. The combat is free flowing and the moves unique.
2. Sleeping Dogs
This is one of the most underrated game I've seen in recent years. Based in Hong Kong, you're an undercover cop, who can drive bikes and cars. There are guns and a whole city to explore. However, there's only the cuty, no jungles or wildlife, not a downside, something worth mentioning.
Notable mentions:
Assassins Creed Series
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
1. Minecraft
Minecraft is a game, unlike any other. Basically, you start off alone in a natural environment. You'll have to 'craft' tools and hunt for food. Slowly build houses and protect yourself from dangers. Eventually if you reach a level high enough, you have to defeat a Dragon to 'complete' the game.
That can take dozens of in-game days, and several real life ones, unless you're a professional. Each time you start a new game, you'll be offered a completely new world, infinite in 4 directions.
Just Cause 2 is not set in Africa. It is set on some imaginary SE Asian island. I am not sure how anyone who has ever played the game could think it was set in Africa. You probably were thinking of Far Cry 2.
