SAMSUNG teaming up with Barnes & Noble on Tablet design

Meet the new Samsung Tab 4, a product designed by Samsung, Barnes & Noble.

Barnes and Noble, the bookseller that has struggled a lot to establish itself in the tablet market, is now calling Samsung for help.

The companies announced on Thursday that they will launch co-branded tablets which is also known as: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. The device will feature Samsung's hardware and Nook software which is produced by Barnes and Noble. The first Galaxy Tab 4 will hit United States shelves in August.

Barnes & Noble's Nook business has fallen off the cliff. It's last reported quarter, ended in January 25th, showed about 50 percent decline in sales, and shareholders have been calling on the company to make changes or shut down the operation altogether. Samsung, meanwhile has found success in the tablet market and is the leader of Android-based tablets.

The Company said on Thursday that they will focus on the Nook software, leaving the hardware design to Samsung.

Two years ago, Microsoft Invested the sum of $300 million in the nook software, then known as "Newco". During the last-reported quarter, Nook content sales which includes digital applications and e-books, saw a sales drop of about 26.5 percent year over year upto $57 million.

Now, Samsung have given hope to Barnes & Noble on their new project.
